The annual fall meeting of the Jackson County Retired Teachers Association was Sept. 22 in Brownstown.

The teachers, guests of the Jackson County History Center, gathered in the livery barn for lunch served by history center volunteers.

History center President Billy Day welcomed the teachers and provided a short history of the development of the center through the merger of the Jackson County Historical Society and Jackson County Genealogical Society.

Margo Brewer with the history center provided the teachers with an overview of the center’s facilities.

After lunch, history center volunteers provided tours of the museum and the pioneer village buildings.

President Jim McCormick opened the meeting and led the teachers in the Pledge of Allegiance. He reminded the teachers that volunteer hours chairwoman Billie Wintin will be requesting individual reports at the end of the calendar year. The teachers were encouraged to consider joining the history center.

The next meeting of the Jackson County Retired Teachers Association will be Feb. 16.
