Owls, Braves learn sectional opponents

The 2016 sectional matchups were set Sunday for the 44th Annual IHSAA football state tournament.

Class 3A and 4A will play their first-round games Oct. 21 starting at 7 p.m.

Owls get rematch, could host championship

The Seymour football team will host Silver Creek to open postseason play in Sectional 23.

Silver Creek (4-3) opened its 2016 season with a 29-16 win against the Owls (4-3).

Either Seymour or Silver Creek will take on on the winner of the game between Jennings County and Madison the following week.

On the top half of the bracket, East Central faces Shelbyville and South Dearborn plays Franklin County in the first round.

Should they win their first two games, the Owls likely will host the sectional championship Nov. 4.

Braves start with Brown County

Brownstown Central will host Brown County in the first round of Sectional 31.

If the Braves (6-1) open with a victory against the Eagles (1-6), they face the winner of Salem and Corydon Central for the semifinals.

Southridge and Heritage Hills will face off and North Harrison takes on Charlestown in the bottom bracket.

Brownstown Central likely will play on the road should they advance to the final.
