BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A Bakersfield family is reunited after two one-year-old children were kidnapped during a carjacking.

KBAK-TV reports ( ) that the two children were in their car seats Wednesday when their grandmother was forced out of the vehicle and a thief took off with them in tow.

Sgt. Damon Youngblood of the Bakersfield Police Department says after an intense police search the car was spotted about an hour after it took off.

The children were retrieved and police say the suspect barricaded himself in a trailer. He was eventually taken into custody on charges of kidnapping, carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest and willful cruelty to a child.
