CHESHIRE, Mass. — State police say a 19-year-old man was killed and four other people were injured in an early morning single-vehicle crash in Berkshire County.

Police say the car left the road, struck some trees and rolled onto its roof in Cheshire just before 1 a.m. Friday.

Passenger Robert Pearson, of Dalton, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. The 19-year-old male driver from Adams, as well as 22- and 30-year-old men and a 19-year-old woman, all from North Adams, were injured.

The names of the injured were not released.

Police tell that neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected to have played a role.

The crash remains under investigation.

This story has been corrected to show that the crash occurred just before 1 a.m., not at about 12:30 a.m.
