MIAMI — A man has been charged after two people were found stabbed to death inside their home in southwest Miami.

Local news outlets report that police say 55-year-old Gumersindo Perez Rodriguez is charged with two counts of second-degree murder with a deadly weapon in connection with the killings.

Police say officers responded to the residence Saturday after receiving a call about two people dead.

When they arrived, authorities discovered Rodriguez had barricaded himself inside the home.

Officers were able to enter and convinced Rodriguez to surrender without incident. That’s when authorities also discovered the two victims dead with stab wounds.

Officials have not released the victims’ identities. The relationship between the suspect and the victims remains unclear.
