Braves win tourney

INDIANAPOLIS

Brownstown Central emerged champions at the Bishop Chatard Tournament on Saturday.

In the championship contest, the Braves defeated Warren Central in a marathon match: 25-23, 21-25, 25-22, 20-25, 15-13.

Keeli Darlage pounded 33 hits for Brownstown with 16 kills and Claire Pace had 31 with 18.

Serving, the Braves went 91-for-101 with 15 aces. Darlage had five aces and Heidi Booher notched four.

In their opening match, the Braves swept Park Tudor 25-13, 25-11, 25-13.

BC was 86 of 99 with 41 kills, led by 16 hits from Ashley Schroer and Darlage.

Halle Hehman was a perfect on all 12 serves with a pair of aces while Riley Nus and Leah Stidam didn’t miss one of their eight serve tries.

Thursday, Brownstown Central (12-16) will host Floyd Central.

Columbus North wins sectional

Alex McGill scored two goals in the first half to spark the Columbus North boys to a 2-0 win against Columbus East in the championship match of the Class 2A Seymour Sectional Saturday night.

The win increases Columbus North’s record to 12-5-1 and the Bull Dogs will host the winner of the East Central Sectional on Tuesday night for a regional match.
