Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 108 is accepting applications for its annual Cops and Kids Christmas shopping program.

The program is for children ages 6 to 17. Those wishing to apply for the program must submit a letter providing an explanation of the family situation. The letter must include a good address, a good phone number, names of the children and ages of the children.

The address is important, as those chosen will be notified by mail. Letters can be dropped off at or mailed to the Seymour Police Department, 205 N. Ewing St., Seymour, IN 47274. The deadline for applications is 4 p.m. Nov. 18.

Centra Foundation and Centra Credit Union in Seymour are partnering with the FOP to raise funds for the program.

The program not only provides Christmas gifts to families with children that might not have the finances to do so, but also allows police officers in the community to share a bond between them and a child.
