HOBOKEN, N.J. — Additional tracks will open Monday at Hoboken Terminal, helping ease commuter woes less than three weeks after a train crashed into the station, killing a woman and injuring more than 100 people.
New Jersey Transit says the additional tracks will open at 4 a.m. Monday and the ticket office will resume operations Saturday.
Executive Director Steven Santoro says tracks 5 and 6 will remain closed as the transit agency continues repairs.
Monday’s schedule will be posted online after 10 p.m. Saturday.
Santoro says trains entering the station will also reduce their approach speed from 10 mph to 5 mph for added safety.
In the Sept. 29 crash, the train’s data recorder showed it speeding up and was going twice the 10 mph speed limit just before it crashed.
