The Jackson County Public Library board of trustees adopted the 2017 budget during its regular meeting Monday at the Seymour Library.

The approved 2017 operating fund budget is $2,282,007 with a preliminary tax rate of $0.1015 per $100 assessed valuation.

The board approved 2017 board meeting dates; 2017 closing dates; health, life, vision and dental insurance changes effective Dec. 1; and surplus furniture and equipment.

Board President Susan Haskett appointed Sally Crouch (chairwoman), Josh Bartley and Kathy Ellis to the nominating committee. The committee will submit a slate of officers at the November meeting for a December election.

The board also discussed progress on the 2017-19 strategic plan and viewed a training video on internal controls.

The board’s next meeting is at 5 p.m. Nov. 21.
