The Jackson County Democrat Party plans to conduct a chili cookoff at 5 p.m. Saturday at W.R. Ewing, 1105 W. Spring St., Brownstown.

Some of the party’s candidates for races on the Nov. 8 general election ballot will be cooking chili, which will then be judged.

Special guests include Democrat John Gregg of Sanborn, who is running for governor, and Christina Hale of Indianapolis, who is running for lieutenant governor. Other state and local candidates plan to attend.

Desserts, including pies and cakes, will be available.
