Tigers open season with tourney loss

CAMPBELLSBURG

A slow offensive start and missed free throws resulted in a season-opening loss for Crothersville, as the Tigers fell to West Washington 52-46 on Tuesday in Henryville Tip-Off Tournament pool play.

Crothersville (0-1) scored nine points in the opening quarter and eight more before the half as they trailed 24-17 at intermission.

The Senators out-scored the Tigers 14-13 in the third, but the Tigers topped the Senators 16-14 in the final eight minutes.

The Tigers finished 10 for 20 on free throws.

Senior Katrina Christian led the Tigers with 19 points on four field goals (two 3-pointers). Lacey Hall added nine points, and Piper Hensley scored eight.

The Tigers had a strong game on the boards with 41 rebounds. Christian snagged 14 rebounds, Hall grabbed 13, and Madison Reynolds finished with nine.

Today, the Tigers will host Indianapolis Manual for more tourney action.

Crothersville will welcome Shawe Memorial on Friday before heading to Henryville for one game, to determine final placings, on Saturday.
