The Seymour girls went on a 6-0 run late in the fourth period to break open a tight game and post a 58-53 win against Silver Creek Friday night in the Lloyd E. Scott Gymnasium.
Prior to the game, most Seymour varsity and JV players escorted a veteran onto the floor and PA announced Scott Davis introduced the players and veterans and told about the veterans’ accomplishments while in service.
The Owls held a 38-34 entering the fourth period before increasing their lead to 44-37 with 5:05 remaining.
The Dragons used a 3-pointer by Alyssa Wright to close to 44-40 and later closed the difference to 47-44 before Kayla Griffin’s basket gave the Owls a 49-44 lead.

Lauren James helped the Owls get off to a fast start with 11 points, including three 3-pointers, in the first period for a 13-12 lead.
Silver Creek went on a 9-0 run late in the first period and at the start of the second period to take a 15-13 lead as the Owls went more than five minutes without scoring.
Seymour rallied to take a 26-24 lead at the half.
James topped all players with 28 points, including six three-pointers.
Griffin added 11 points and Suits scored 9.
Abby May was high for the Dragons (0-3) with 16 points.
Griffin had seven rebounds and Megan Ritz had five.
The Owls (2-1) will travel to Batesville on Tuesday.
