Mildred Lewellen, 70, of Seymour passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at Lutheran Community Home.

Born June 5, 1946, in Manchester, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Walter Lewis and Cordia DePew Lewis-Jewell. On July 9, 1964, in Manchester, she married Robert F. “Bob” Lewellen.

Mildred was a homemaker and worked several part-time jobs over the years. Nothing was more important than her family. She had worked at CVS Pharmacy, Kmart and JCPenney and helped Bob with their trophy engraving business. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with Taylor and Zak and watching them play soccer.

She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School and hearing the preaching of the Rev. D.G. Morris. She later joined Seymour Christian Church, where she enjoyed listening to her son sing in the praise team and sermons of the Rev. Bill Lockman.

Survivors include her daughter, Robin (Fred) Heckman of Seymour; son, Jason (Amy) Lewellen of Seymour; five grandchildren, Taylor Heckman, Zakary Lewellen, Evan Dover, Luke Dover and Chase Dover; her sister, Laverne Barger; sister-in-law, Geneva Lewis; brother-in-law, Richard (Melissa) Powell; nieces, Cheryl (Greg) Willman, Tedda (Josh) Elliott, Patty Lewis, Betty Jo Kilgore, Barb Robinette, Angie (Todd) Greer and Crystal (Anthony) Holman; and nephews, David (Susie) Lewis, Doug (Lisa) Lewis, Jim Lewis, Paul Lewis and J.R. (Justina) Powell.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50 years, Bob; and a daughter, Trisha, who passed in 1967.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre, 311 Holiday Square Road in Seymour. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from noon until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
