A Jackson County artist who’s earned state and national attention will be featured on a new special produced by WTIU Public Television.
Pete Baxter, a first-generation Shaker woodworker from Seymour, is one of 10 artists across the state who were chosen for “Celebration in Art: Presented by The Weekly Special.” It premieres at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
The featured artists on the program work in a wide variety of mediums and “represent the best in Indiana craftmanship,” according to a news release from WTIU.
Baxter is an Indiana Artisan, a select group of entrepreneurs who create high-quality, one-of-a-kind art and crafts.
Other artists on the program are a basket weaver from Goshen, Viki Graber; a welder from Batesville, Chaz Kaiser; a Raku ceramic artist from Fishers, Christine Davis; a bronze sculptor from Terre Haute, Bill Wolfe; an origami artist and interior designer from Bloomington, Jiangmei Wu; a plastic sculptor from Fort Wayne, Sayaka Ganz; and a bowmaker from Bloomington, Michael Duff; and Nashville fiber artist Daren Redman.
This one-hour show is an extension of “Expressions,” a segment that profiles Hoosier artists on WTIU’s long-running cultural affairs program The Weekly Special.
