Casimir Steven Mejean, 51, of Freetown died at 5:05 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Born Jan. 26, 1965, in Columbus, he was the son of John Mejean, who preceded him in death, and Wanda Mize Mejean of Seymour. On Nov. 12, 1983, in Freetown, he married Dana Bruner Mejean, who survives.

He was a member of Freetown Apostolic Church and a self-employed auto mechanic. He loved to fish, working on cars and playing with the grandchildren

Other survivors include a son, Tim (Chelsie) Mejean of Freetown; two daughters, Crystal Scott of North Vernon and Tamara (Travis) Mejean, Seymour; a daughter-in-law, Alexis Mejean of Brownstown; 11 grandchildren, Dakota, Marlee, Clyde, Bradley, Haven, Hailey, Addison, Noah, Peyton, Korbin and Jordan; a brother, John (Cathy) Mejean of Houston; and five sisters, Debbie (Harold) Murphy of Seymour, Lena (Tom) Roll of Taylorsville, Carol (Mark) Melloncamp of Freetown, Misty (Nick) Marshall of Crothersville and Melissa (Eric) Evans of Seymour.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Mejean.

A graveside service was held Wednesday at Taylor Chapel Cemetery in Freetown with the Rev. Tim Brown officiating. Dara Sphall was the vocalist.

Zabel Funeral Home in Brownstown handled the arrangements.
