Columbus City Band performing in Seymour

The Columbus City Band’s final concert of 2016 will ring in the holiday season at 6 p.m. Sunday in Seymour.

Directed by Shawn Bentz, the Sounds of the Season and Christmas Classics performance will be at Central Christian Church, at 1434 W. Second St.

The concert is free, but a goodwill offering will be accepted.

The group will perform a range of tunes from a variety of seasonal traditions, including: “A Vaughan Williams Christmas,” featuring “Forest Green,” “Wassail Song” and “Sussex Carol; “An Olde English Christmas,” featuring “The Boar’s Head Carol,” “What Child Is This?,” “Coventry Carol” and “Somerset Wassail”; “Rhapsody on Spanish Carols”; “Gesu Bambino”; “Chanukah Collage”; and other popular Christmas tunes.

Founded in 1843, Columbus City Band is a group of about 45 volunteer musicians from primarily Bartholomew, Jackson, Johnson and Shelby counties.

Upcoming 2017 concerts are Feb. 12 and April 9 at the Commons in Columbus.
