Mary L. Helmbrecht Butler, 92, of Seymour passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at Forest Path at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

Born April 20, 1924, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Maud Bowell Helmbrecht, both of whom preceded her in death. On Nov. 28, 1946, in Seymour, she married Floyd “Bud” Butler, who preceded her in death.

Mary was a member of Central Christian Church. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and was a painter who loved playing bingo and sitting on her front porch.

Survivors include her children, Linda Jordan, Larry Butler and Susie Shirley; grandchildren, Joe Jordan, Brent Jordan, Kelly Weisenburger, Kristin Drake, Baron Shirley and Brigette Shirley; seven great-grandchildren; sons-in-law, Michael Jordan and Terry Shirley; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Beside her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Bill Helmbrecht, Jim Helmbrecht, Max Helmbrecht and an infant brother, Robert Helmbrecht.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Voss Chapel in Seymour with the Rev. Kit Bogan, assisted by the Rev. Shelly Riggs Jordan, officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Schneck Medical Center or The Alley.
