Centra Foundation and Centra Credit Union are partnering with the local Fraternal Order of Police Lodge to offer the community a unique opportunity this holiday season.

The Christmas tree at the Centra Credit Union branch in Seymour is decorated with gift tags provided by the FOP Donald M. Winn Lodge 108 for its Cops and Kids program.

Each tag represents a Jackson County child who the lodge plans to take shopping to purchase needed clothes and a toy.

A year ago, donations made at the Seymour branch covered the cost of gifts for 31 children, almost half of the children registered for the program.

The lodge again hopes to take at least 70 children shopping this holiday season. The number of children is dependent on the monies raised to support the program.

The Centra Holiday Giving program began Nov. 21 and continues through Saturday. Donations made to the Centra Foundation are tax deductible.

Lyn Morgan, president of the Centra Foundation, said bank officials realize the holiday season is a very busy time for people, and despite good intentions, many people don’t find the time to support the FOP Cops and Kids program.

“Our goal is to make it a little easier to provide help during the holiday season,” she said. “We welcome gifts of all sizes. When added together, the donations will make a difference for a Jackson County child.”

Karen Owens, Seymour branch manager, said she and her staff are delighted to work with the Cops and Kids program and would like to help to even more children this year.

The Seymour Centra Credit Union branch is located at 520 S. Jackson Park Drive. Centra Foundation also provides the opportunity to make donations online at centrafoundation.org

Centra Foundation is the charitable arm of Centra Credit Union and was formed to extend the credit union mission of People Helping People. Centra Foundation is Centered on Caring and aims to involve Centra members and friends in supporting charitable efforts that help meet the needs of communities where Centra members work and live.
