Jackson County REMC is reporting power outages affecting 2,112 of its customers.
Most of those outages (864) are being reported in Vernon Township and Washington Township (427) in southeastern Jackson County. Another 393 REMC customers in Marion Township in Jennings County and 348 in Jackson Township in Jackson County were without power.
According to Jackson County REMC’s Facebook page, Duke had a transmission line go down due to a car accident. That transmission line feeds REMC’s substations, and that is what is causing the outage.
The company has a crew on the way and will provide updates as soon as possible.
