Compassionate Friends planning worldwide candle lighting

0

The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting will unite family and friends around the globe Sunday night in lighting candles to honor the memories of their sons, daughters, brothers, sisters and grandchildren who have died.

Members of the Southern Indiana Compassionate Friends will be conducting their 20th annual Worldwide Candle Lighting at 6:30 pm Sunday at Vienna Baptist Church, 11 W. Leota Road, Scottsburg.

All parents, grandparents, family members and friends are invited to attend and are being asked to bring a framed photo or something of remembrance of their child/grandchild to be placed on the memory table and their Compassionate Friends votive. If you do not have one, one will be provided.

Once all candles are lit, there will be a wave of light throughout the world to commemorate and honor the memory of all children gone too soon.

The program will feature poems, music, candle lighting, refreshments and social time. Those who are able are being asked to bring a snack to share.

The Worldwide Candle Lighting was started in the United States in 1997 as a small Internet observance but has since grown as word has spread throughout the world of the remembrance of children who have died but will never be forgotten.
