Thomas A. Swank, 64, of Seymour passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, peacefully at home

He was born Feb. 21, 1952, at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. On April 24, 1976, in Bedford, he married the love of his life, Linda. He passed away with her next to his side.

Thomas served in the U.S. Army from May 19, 1972, to Jan. 18, 1974, and earned an honorable discharge.

Tom was retired as a machinist from a tool and die company. He loved spending time with his grandsons, teaching them the ways of the world. He spent a lot of time in the garage showing them how to use tools and playing in the pool. He also loved rides on his Harley-Davidson. Anyone who knew him, knew exactly where they stood with him, and his smile was infectious.

Other survivors include his only child, Tonya (Brian) Disque of Vallonia; his mother, Mary Jean Swank; siblings, Ken (Jennifer) Swank of Gadsden, Alabama, Carla (Jack) Case of Bedford and Don (Sandra) Swank of Oolitic; his grandsons, who he loved more than anything, Bryar and Case Disque; and a mini-pin, his best friend, Harley; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Dickson Swank, and his beloved mini-pin, Shorty.

The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre in Seymour with Pastor Steve Greene officiating.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until time of service Monday.
