The partners of a local independent insurance agency recently announced several changes, including the retirement or semiretirements of some agents and the addition of new staff members.

According to a news release from John Beatty and Nate Tormoehlen, the changes include the addition of Lance Gentry earlier this year and the retirements of Joe Tormoehlen after 30 years with the agency and Richard Beatty after 40 years with the agency.

“Lance fits our business model and agency culture perfectly,” John Beatty wrote in a news release.

Prior to starting at Beatty Insurance, Gentry worked for seven years at Kocolene Development Corp., rising to the position of vice president of operations. The Seymour High School graduate also graduated in 2009 from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business with a bachelor’s degree in finance.

Gentry also is treasurer of Leadership Jackson County, an economy and education team leader of Seymour Vision 2025, a board member of Seymour Area Youth Football League, president of Mutton Creek Homeowners Association, Schneck Foundation planned gifts committee member and a Maverick Challenge competition judge.

Joe Tormoehlen, a Beatty Insurance partner, joined the firm in 1986 and assisted customers in the personal lines business.

In January, Richard Beatty moved from a full-time agent to part time. He will retire in January 2017.

“I am fortunate to have worked alongside my father for my first several years and then my brother, Richard, for the last 40 years,” John Beatty said. “I know he is looking forward to retirement and feels comfortable his customers will continue to receive the same courteous and fair treatment he has given them for so many years.”

Looking forward, John Beatty said he feels the agency is well positioned for the future.

“With Nate and Lance, we feel we have two of the brightest and best Seymour natives who have chosen to make Jackson County their home and a place to make a career,” he said. “Their civic involvement exemplifies our agency’s commitment to this community.”

Beatty Insurance has been in business in Jackson County since 1863 and is a member of Keystone Insurance Group, which enables the agency access to several specialty and national insurance carriers.
