Herbert “Herb” Engelking, 52, of Seymour passed away at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, at home.

Born Nov. 16, 1964, in Seymour, he was the son of Lawrence R. and Ester A. Foster Engelking, both of whom preceded him in death. On Aug. 10, 2014, he married Vickie Burrell, in Seymour. She survives.

Herb retired after 21 years with Lucas Ackerman Hardware in Brownstown, where he was the manager of the lumberyard.

He loved to work with his hands, as he would build log cabins, lamps and several crafts that you could hang on the wall. He was even well engaged with the computer.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Amanda Jo Engelking, Scierra (Timothy) Dill and Jessica (Gary) Hanner; four grandchildren; three stepchildren, Misti (Timm) Wieneke, Kristi (Tim) Brock and Mindi (Aaron) Delph; eight stepgrandchildren; a sister, Anita Engleking; five brothers, Richard L. Engelking, Lawrence E. Engelking, Mark W. Engelking, Russell E. Engelking and James “Jimmy” Engelking; and several cousins.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Kidd.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Voss Chapel with the Rev. Mark Hafenbreidel officiating. Burial will be at First Marion Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until time of Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given  to Premier Hospice or First Marion Baptist Cemetery Fund.
