The Jackson County Public Library board of trustees approved a 2017-19 strategic plan during a meeting Dec. 12 at the Seymour Library.

Goals in the plan include having adequate staff to meet community needs, being the trusted source for information in the community, increasing community activities and promoting a safe community.

The board also approved payment of claims on hand through the end of the year, a June 23 after-hours genealogy lock-in at the Seymour Library and a 2017 salary resolution.

The board also elected 2017 officers: Joshua Bartley, president; Kathy Ellis, vice president; Susan Haskett, secretary; Sally Crouch, assistant secretary; and Mary Reed, treasurer.

Connie Adams was recognized for her four years of service as a member of the board.

The board’s next meeting, which includes the annual meeting of the board of finance, will be at 5 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St.
