Pitching camp planned at Seymour

Seymour’s baseball staff will conduct its third annual winter pitching camp Dec. 27 and 29 in the Seymour High School auxiliary gym.

The two-day pitching camp will consist of drills that can be used for the upcoming season.

Seymour graduate and Milwaukee Brewers prospect pitcher Zack Brown and former AA All-Star and SHS pitching coach Elvis Hernandez will be running the camp.

The drills will emphasize basic and advanced fundamentals in pitching. The purpose of the camp is to give each pitcher a set of drills that can help improve mechanics, arm strength and arm safety.

Second and third grade will be at 5 p.m., followed by fourth and fifth grades at 6 p.m. and sixth through eighth grades at 7 p.m.

Cost is $10, and players need to bring a glove and tennis shoes.

Seymour baseball has won 79 games over the past five years. Six former Owl pitchers have been named to the Indiana North/South All-Star series, six have been named All-State players and four have played professional baseball.
