Interstate 65 lanes close because of wreck

A UPS truck that jackknifed early Thursday morning on Interstate 65 five miles north of Seymour created traffic snarls for motorists driving south.

No one was injured in the wreck, reported at 6:57 a.m. south of the Jonesville exit, Lt. Andy Wayman said.

Wayman said the truck, driven by a John Gimbel, remained upright but wound up sitting across both southbound lanes and blocking traffic. Gimbel’s age and address were not available at press time.

Sgt. Stephen Wheeles with the Indiana State Police said traffic was backed up at least three miles because of the wreck. Motorists used exits at the 64- or 68-mile marker to State Road 11 or U.S. 31 as detours.

Wayman said traffic began flowing south again about 8:45 a.m.
