FREETOWN

Ricky E. Handt, 53, of Freetown died at 1:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at his home.

Born Aug. 2, 1963, in Columbus, he was the son of Dale E. and Peggy A. Garland Handt, both of whom preceded him in death.

He was a carpenter and worked for JMT Framing in Seymour. Ricky was a fan of NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys and he enjoyed working on cars.

Survivors include his daughters, Stephanie (Gregory) Beem of Seymour and Samantha (Christopher) Bannister of Scottsburg; a sister, Cathy (Ronald) Kirts of Freetown; brothers, Jerry Dale (Erin) Handt of Taylorsville and Gary Handt of Columbus; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home, 1029 Washington St., Columbus.

Family and friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of service.

Inurnment will be at Spraytown Cemetery.
