Lyman Carl Kasting, 90, of Seymour passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at Schneck Medical Center.

Born Feb. 7, 1926, in Seymour, he was the son of Arthur and Augusta Pollert Kasting. He married Bobbie Jean Hughes on March 21, 1946, in Seymour. She preceded him in death.

Lyman graduated from Shields High School in 1943. He was former owner of Seymour Hardware and Sheet Metal and worked there from 1942 until 2012. He also was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Marsha (Louis) Abraham; son, Mark A. Kasting; two grandchildren, Brian David (Kara) Abraham and Lisa Michelle (Douglas) Kloeker; a great-grandchild, Briley Renee Abraham; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Kasting and Charles H. Kasting.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
