Michael J. “Pappy” Robson I, 63, of Seymour passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at Schneck Medical Center with his family by his side.

Born Nov. 29, 1953, in Seymour, he was the son of Donald J. “Poppy” and Margaret B. Grabill Robson. On June 13, 1992, at Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour, he married Linda Shelton, who survives.

Pappy attended Calvary Baptist Church. He retired from Cummins Engine Co. after 40 years of service. He regularly traveled to Canada to learn the engineering of a line that was implemented at Plant One. After his retirement, he worked the past four years at Valeo in Seymour. He loved to play pool and at one time aspired to become a professional pool player. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Fraternal Order of Moose, both of Seymour.

He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. Pappy loved spending time not only with his grandchildren but with all the children of the neighborhood. He was known as “The Gas Man” who would use a stick to fill all the kids’ bikes up with gas whenever they pulled into his yard.

Other survivors include his children, Jeremy (Katherine) Robson and Michael J. (fianceƩ, Samantha) Robson II; grandchildren, Madison, Emily, Eli, Derek, Hailey and Brooklyn; sisters, Pamela (Terry) Underwood and Ramona (Kenny) Brooks; aunts, Mae Crane and Mary Ann Soergel; uncle, Gerald Robson, mother-in-law, Elaine Shelton; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Macy Grace Lucas, and his father-in-law, Carrol D. Shelton.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Voss Chapel with Pastor Dan DeFriece officiating. Burial will be at Proctor Cemetery, Dixon Chapel.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health.
