Melba May Lunte Comanich, 91, of Baytown, Texas, was taken home to be with the Lord Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016.

Born May 10, 1925, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Frieda Caroline Peters and Henry C. Lunte. On Nov. 30, 1952, she married George William Comanich, who preceded her in death.

At a young age, she loved to sing. She graduated from Seymour High School in 1943. She was in the high school choir and began singing solos for weddings and with a band for dances. Throughout her life, she sang in her church choir.

She worked as a telephone operator and then as a receptionist at Texas Eastern Corp.

Throughout her life, she had a deep love for her hometown, Seymour, and would tell stories from her childhood. She had a love for all of her friends and relatives. She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She also loved her church, music, embroidery, crochet, antiques and her dogs, Chang, Boogs, Whitney and Liebchen. She was a member of the Garden Club of Baytown and Redeemer Lutheran Church of Baytown.

Survivors include her sister, Charlotte (Bud) Kysar of Seymour; daughter, Camilla Comanich, and son-in-law, Scott Compton, of Berkeley, California; son, Charles (Lori Eshbach) Comanich of Baytown, Texas; son-in-law, Steven Carpenter of Maple Valley, Washington; grandchildren, Canon Comanich of Baytown, Texas, and Rachael Carpenter, Johnathan Carpenter and Amy Carpenter of Maple Valley, Washington; and nieces, Beth Ann Brooks and Jane Jones.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann Carpenter.

The funeral service will be at noon Saturday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel in Seymour.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday.

Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery in Seymour.
