A two-year contract extension has been proposed for the superintendent of Brownstown Central Community School Corp.

A public hearing about extending Greg Walker’s contract through Dec. 31, 2019, was conducted Dec. 29 during a special meeting of the board of trustees in the administration office.

The purpose of the hearing was for the school board to discuss and hear objections to and support for the proposed contract extension; however, no one from the public attended.

The contract will be up for a vote by the school board during its next meeting, set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Brownstown Elementary School.

By state law, school corporations must make public how much the superintendent is paid in both salary and benefits.

The proposed contract is unchanged from the previous superintendent contract with the exception of the extension of contract length.

Walker’s annual salary is $116,133 for 260 contracted days. He also receives 20 paid vacation days, 10 paid holidays, five personal days and 14 sick leave days.
