Tigers win on homecoming

CROTHERSVILLE

Crothersville wouldn’t be denied on homecoming, as they started 2017 with a 56-40 victory against Bloomington Lighthouse on Friday.

The Tigers (5-8) limited Lighthouse’s offense in the first quarter, as they built a 9-2 lead.

At half, the Tigers had widened the margin to 23-14.

Crothersville never looked back, as the Tigers outscored Lighthouse 13-9 in the third and 20-17 in the fourth quarters.

Josh Thomas led the Tigers with 17 points and 14 of the team’s 36 total rebounds. Conner O’Sullivan also scored 17 points and Noah Hoskins chipped-in nine.

Crothersville’s game scheduled against Southwestern (Hanover) has been moved from tonight to Jan. 14 due to impending weather.

Cougars fall to Saints

INDIANAPOLIS

Trinity Lutheran dropped their opening game of the new year to Indianapolis Lutheran 61-53 on Friday.

Despite giving up 21 points in the first quarter and only scoring 12 themselves, the Cougars (3-8) would take the lead 32-29 at half.

Following intermission, the Cougars would be outscored by 12 points in the third quarter 18-6.

The Saints held on in the final eight minutes to secure the win.

Colton Wischmeier led the Cougars with 20 points on three 3-pointers, Sam Marksberry scored 10 and Chad Stuckwisch notched nine.

Tonight, Trinity will host Henryville.
