SEYMOUR

Susan E. Smith, 49, of Seymour passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at home with her family by her side.

Born April 21, 1967, in Valparaiso, she was the daughter of Diane Horak Shell of Seymour and James (Rose) Fox of Portage. On Sept. 12, 1985, she married Alan K. Smith in Tucson, Arizona. They had two sons, Eric J. Smith and Andrew K. (Ester Fiala) Smith, all of whom survive in Chicago, Illinois.

Susan’s greatest passion was her family. She worked at Big Lots, Kitchen Collection and most recently was the office manager at family owned Smith’s Garage Doors.

Other survivors include her stepfather, Charles (Madge) Shell of North Vernon; brother, James (Ginger) Fox Jr. of Salem; sisters, Sarah Fox and Carrie (Jamie) Andres-Tatlock, all of Seymour; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Lydia Horak of Valparaiso and William and Opal Fox of Wheeler and stepgrandma Bessie Fields of Tucson, Arizona.

A memorial service to honor her life will be at 6 p.m. today at her home church, First Baptist Church in Seymour.
