SEYMOUR

Richard Lee Zaring, 86, of Seymour passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at Covered Bridge Health Care Campus.

Born June 11, 1930, in Oak Park, Illinois, he was the son of Roswald A. and Alice M. Bryan Zaring, both of whom preceded him in death. In March of 2016, he married Sheryl A. VonDielingen. She survives.

Richard joined the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean War. After the war, he went to work at Cummins Engine Co., where he retired after several years of service.

Other survivors include his son, Warren (Amy) Walker; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Zaring.

A private graveside service will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery with full military honors be provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
