Officers responding to a report of an overdose Tuesday at home in Country Squire Lakes in Jennings County wound up arresting five people on various drug charges.

Those arrested at the residence at 3765 Shrimpton Drive in Geneva Township were Sean S. Cobb, 36, of Columbus, Brittany R. Watts, 22, of Columbus, and Curt J. Thornburg, 34, Brandy R. McGuire, 29, and Phillip R. McGuire, 40, all of North Vernon.

According to a news release from the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department, Cobb and Watts both face a Level 5 felony charge of dealing in methamphetamine, Level 6 felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance, neglect of a dependent and possession of a controlled substance, and a Class A misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.

Thornsburg faces Level 6 felony charges of possession or two more precursors, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a common nuisance, and Class A misdemeanor charges of possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. The McGuires each face a Level 6 felony charge of maintaining a common nuisance.

The arrest of the five occurred after officers and first responders found Cobb suffering from an apparent overdose. After administering a dose of Narcan (naloxone), Cobb regained consciousness, police report. He was transported by EMS to St. Vincent Jennings for medical evaluation. After being medically cleared Cobb was transported to the Jennings County Jail.

During an on-scene investigation with the other individuals present in the home, deputies said they found methamphetamine, heroin and drug-related paraphernalia and items pertaining to dealing methamphetamine and precursors to the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

The Indiana Department of Child Services was contacted due to an 8-month-old child being present in the home, police. The child was removed and placed with a relative.
