Free FAFSA night set for Feb. 7

Seymour High School will host a free FAFSA Night from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 7 in room 204.

The event is open to adult and high school students needing to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid for the 2017-18 academic year.

Parents are encouraged to attend this event, as student aid experts will be available to provide information and answer questions.

Parents and students will learn how to complete FAFSA, which is required to determine eligibility for most student aid programs, including the Frank O’Bannon grant, Federal Pell grant, institutional awards and federal student and parent loans.

The deadline for submitting FAFSA is March 10, but applicants have until May 15 to make final corrections.

To complete the FAFSA, you will need your Social Security number; your parents’ Social Security numbers if you are a dependent student; your Alien Registration number if you are not a U.S. citizen; 2016 income information; and 2016 W-2s.

Students and parents of dependent students need to obtain their own FSA identification. To do so, visit fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm.
