Master Naturalist class planned

Registrations are being accepted for the Indiana Master Naturalist class at Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge, 12985 E. U.S. 50, Seymour.

The class will run from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays in March and April at the refuge visitor center and be sponsored by the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society, the nonprofit support group of the refuge.

Course instructors will be experts on plants, animals, birds and other natural history topics.

Course topics will include birds, mammals, wetlands, botany, tree identification, invasive plants, reptiles and amphibians, the use of compass and maps, geology, fossils and public lands.

Participants who attend six of the nine course sessions and complete volunteer work will receive a master naturalist certificate and a pin.

A $35 fee is charged to pay for course materials. Advance registration is required.
