Kathleen Angela Hensley

PARIS CROSSING

Kathleen Angela Hensley, 81, of Paris Crossing, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Born Oct. 31, 1935, she was the daughter of Michaelangelo and Vittoria Marra Bombara Donato. On March 5, 1959, in Boston, Massachusetts, she married Earl Hensley Sr., who survives.

Kathleen wore toughness and grit like a badge of honor. Her Italian (Sicilian) roots instilled the high-spirited passion and meticulous nature, which was obvious in everything she did.

She never hesitated to speak her mind openly and honestly. She was genuine and real, like it or not, but you always knew where you stood with her. She appreciated those qualities in others as well.

She was a deeply loving, devoted and a fiercely protective mother, grandmother and a devoted, faithful spouse.

Her perfectionist nature was all-consuming and exhausting but always present.

She always “set the bar” extremely high in her expectation of us, trying to inspire and encourage us to be the best versions of ourselves we could. Even when we fell short, she never showed disappointment for long and had faith we would do better next time.

Other survivors include children, Helen Quinn Reynolds, Earl Hensley Jr., Donna Howard and Kathleen Simmons; grandchildren, Vittoria Barger, Jeremy Hazelwood, Angela Hurst, Andrea Howard, Cameron Hensley and Cooper Hensley; great-grandchildren, Zacherie S. Ritchie, Brandon M. Ritchie, Tristan Hurst, Chloe Hurst and Josiah Miller; and a great-great-grandson, Kystin Ritchie.

The funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. today at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour with Father Dan Staublin officiating. A graveside service will be at Cana Cemetery in Uniontown.

Visitation will follow the funeral Mass from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre in Seymour.

Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or Cana Cemetery.
