A Jennings County man faces at least eight criminal charges related to his arrest during a traffic stop Sunday night in Country Squire Lakes, police report.
John Dearborn, 46, of North Vernon, was charged with a Level 5 felony of dealing in methamphetamine and Level 6 felonies of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe and maintaining a common nuisance, according to a news release from Jennings County Officer Drew Heilers.
Dearborn also faces Class A misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and trafficking with an inmate, a Class B misdemeanor charge of possession of paraphernalia and a citation for driving while suspended.
Heilers reported Dearborn’s arrest occurred when he stopped a motorist who had crossed left of center in the area of Country Manor Road and Derbyshire Court. Dearborn was then identified as the driver of the 1993 Pontiac.

During the stop, Heilers said police could see drug-related paraphernalia inside the vehicle. During the ensuing investigation, officers found approximately 9 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, a digital scale, two syringes and drug-related paraphernalia. An unspecified amount of cash also was seized from Dearborn during the investigation.
Dearborn is being held at the Jennings County Jail on $10,055 cash bond.
