George Edwin McCollom II, 62, of New Albany passed away at 11:46 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany.

Born May 5, 1954, in Henderson, Kentucky, he was the son of Charles Royden McCollom Jr., who preceded him in death, and Margaret Katterjohn McCollom, who survives in Henderson, Kentucky. On Oct. 23, 1982, in Scottsburg, he married his soulmate, Ann Foley McCollom, who survives in New Albany.

George was a 1972 graduate of Henderson City High School in Henderson. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1977 with a degree in civil engineering. He was a professional engineer and a professional land surveyor. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Louisville, Kentucky. He was an avid University of Kentucky fan, a private pilot, and a top notch kindergarten teacher’s husband. He was a member of the Cessna Pilots Association and First United Methodist Church in Henderson.

Other survivors include two sisters, Libby McCollom (Ronnie) Sutton of Louisville, Kentucky, and Pattie McCollom (Ron) Kimberlin of Evansville; a brother, Charles Royden McCollom III; and four nieces, five nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and good friends.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his beloved father-in-law, Michael Foley; mother-in-law, Darlene Foley; and his brother-in-law, Bob Foley.

The funeral service will be at 5 p.m Sunday at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville with the Rev. Jon Pearce officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service Sunday.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. CST Monday in C. Royden McCollom Jr. Chapel at First United Methodist Church in Henderson with the Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Burial will be at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson.

Visitation will be from noon CST until time of service Monday.
