SALEM

Donald E. Callahan, 80, of Salem, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at Baptist Health Floyd.

Born Oct. 26, 1936, in Anderson, he was the son of Willard S. and Esther Mae Pittman Callahan. On Oct. 3, 1959, he married Shirley Huff Callahan, who survives.

Donald was a retired well driller and a member of Douglas Church of Christ. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.

Other survivors include a son, Jake (Brenda) Callahan of Salem; a daughter, Tabetha (Terry) Melloncamp of Crothersville; a brother, Michael Timothy Callahan of Douglas Grove, Virginia; four grandchildren, Brittany (Mike) Hoevener, Trent Collings, Christy Collings and Shelby Don Callahan; and four great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Willie, Bryson and Alyssa.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Runyon, and a granddaughter, Brooklyn Collings.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Weathers Funeral Home in Salem. Burial will be in Kansas Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday.

John R. Moore

SEYMOUR

John R. Moore, 81, of Seymour passed away at 6:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at Lutheran Community Home. He had been ill for about three months.

Born Jan. 17, 1936, in Seymour, he was the son of Leonard “Skeets” and Ruth Wehmiller Moore. On Jan. 17, 1960, in Seymour, he married Donna Barringer, who survives.

John was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served two years in the U.S. Army and was a former owner of John Moore Insurance Agency.

John graduated from Shields High School in Seymour in 1954. He lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track and played minor league baseball in the Kansas City Athletics organization. He was a member of Seymour Elks Lodge 462. He was a former elder and served on the Heritage Foundation at Immanuel.

John began his work career with Metropolitan Life Insurance in New Albany. He later founded John Moore Insurance Agency in 1975 and worked there until his retirement in 1998.

Other survivors besides his wife include his children, David (Shannon) Moore, Craig (Linda) Moore and Andrew Moore; six grandchildren, Ashley (Nick) Kuklenski, Nicholas Moore, Natalie (Parker) Wiethoff, Chad (Madeleine) Moore, Amanda Moore and Jacob Moore; and two great-grandchildren, Brady Kuklenski and Riley Kuklenski.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Julie Moore.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, the Rev. Jimmy Rodriguez and the Rev. Philip Bloch officiating. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Voss Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Julie A. Moore G.I. Cancer Research Fund or to Immanuel Lutheran Church Altar Guild.

Robert Lee Young

NORTH VERNON

Robert Lee Young, 46, of North Vernon, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at his home.

Survivors include his mother, Brenda Young of North Vernon; a companion, Goldie Huddleston of North Vernon; and a sister, Jeanie (Daryl) Fredericks of North Vernon.

Cremation is planned, and no services will be held.

Memorials may be made for expenses.

Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon handled the arrangements.
