The Indiana Department of Transportation has rescheduled the Interstate 65 rolling roadblock for motorists approaching County Road 700N in Jackson County to Friday morning.

Beginning at 5 a.m., utility crews will install a new fiber optic line over the north-south interstate, attaching it to existing poles.

Southbound I-65 traffic will be slowed by Indiana State Police at the 61½-mile- marker south of the State Road 58/Walesboro exit. Northbound traffic will be slowed at 41-mile marker near the State Road 250/Uniontown exit.

Troopers will bring speeds down to approximately 20 mph, creating a 20-minute traffic void at the installation site.

Yates Engineering of Bloomington has been contracted by the Zayo Group, a fiber optic supplier, to provide fiber connectivity to a nearby cell tower.

Inclement weather could postpone Friday’s operations.
