Letter: Trump statement encouraging, though unconvincing

To the editor:

“We are better off when we act in concert than when we are in conflict.” Donald Trump, Feb. 1, 2017, prayer breakfast.

A basic value we can support. We can agree with governmental actions based on that premise. But actions by our new government leader resemble ancient military attempts to settle territorial disputes, animalistic behaviors, like alpha male bears fighting to death over territory.

This first sign of evolutionary intelligence by the elected president is encouraging but do not convince many that the USA will retain kindness as a guiding value to win minds and hearts, and incidentally, preserve, not further damage our world.
