SEYMOUR

Maude R. Kleffman, 93, of Seymour passed away at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour with her family by her side.

Born May 4, 1923, at home in Acme, she was the daughter of Samuel and Kate Wheeler Anderson, both of whom preceded her in death.

Maude was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers, where she married her husband of 74 years, Virgil Kleffman, on Sept. 12, 1942.

Maude was a 1941 graduate of Cortland High School. She loved to spend time with friends and family. She always wanted to be wherever Virgil and the family were, whether it be working in the field, cutting wood, riding a four-wheeler, cutting grass or gathering for a family celebration. She loved to put out a garden, for she had a green thumb.

She enjoyed hauling gravel and being in the kitchen, as she was an awesome cook. When she relaxed, you would find her embroidering.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, Virgil; three children, Connie (John) Knoke, Benny (Kathy) Kleffman and Ernie (Christe) Kleffman; seven grandchildren, Perry (Ronna) Reichenba, Tony (Julie) Reichenba, Jennifer Hupp, Jeremy (Heidi) Kleffman, Toby (Amy) Kleffman, Shane (Mandy) Kleffman and Jodi (Ben) Brown; two stepgrandchildren, Lydia (Micah) Finchum and Jason (Delena) Knoke; 15 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Neal Eugene Kleffman; one great-grandson; one brother, Jack Anderson; and four sisters, Jessie Lewis, Grace Oathout, Helen Meyer and Anna Fleetwood.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers, with the Rev. Stephen Wood officiating, assisted by musician Olga Otte. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Borchers.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.
