Plan commission set for meeting

The Jackson County Plan Commission will consider a request for a special exception during a meeting at 7:30 p.m. today at the Jackson County Planning and Zoning Office, 202 E. Walnut St., Brownstown.

The request is from Rumpke of Indiana LLC, which is seeking a special exception to update its five-year site plan at the Medora Landfill. That site plan now includes a proposed 60-by-60-foot shop addition and an 80-by-120-foot recycling pad on a 41.95-acre site in the 8000 block of West County Road 75S, Medora.

The company recently received an $87,425 grant from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to help establish a recycling collection point at the landfill. The grant requires a 50 percent match, and Rumpke will provide a compactor unit with a receiver box and a horizontal baler with infeed conveyor to support the project.

The nine-member commission also plans to discuss potential revisions to the wireless communications fee schedule and election of officers for 2017.

Plan commission meetings are open to the public.
