William David Banks, 86, of Seymour died at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour. He had been ill for about a year.

Born June 9, 1930, in Conway, Arkansas, he was the son of William Michael Banks and Susan Turner Banks, both of whom preceded him in death. On Feb. 21, 1949, in Conway, Arkansas, he married Iva Jean Ford Banks, who preceded him in death April 12, 2001.

He was retired from Seymour Manufacturing Co. Inc. He always enjoyed going to the Coffee Club at Hardee’s and bench sitting at Walmart.

Survivors include a son, Richard Banks of Seymour; two grandchildren, Tarrey (Heather) Banks of Indianapolis and Shawna Banks of Seymour; two great-grandchildren, Lily and Sammy Banks; a daughter-in-law, Sharlene Banks; and three brothers, Louis (Wilma Kay) Banks of Millport, Joseph Banks of Columbus and Frederick Paul Banks of Illinois.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Haines and Martha Gene Shelton-Harrell.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home in Vallonia with Steve Barrett officiating.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Vallonia Cemetery.
