The Brownstown Central Community School Corp. board of trustees recently approved the 2017-18 school calendar.

The first day of school for teachers and staff will be Aug. 7, and students will start Aug. 8.

School will not be in session Sept. 4 for Labor Day, Oct. 16 through 20 for fall break, Nov. 22 through 24 for Thanksgiving break and Dec. 22 through Jan. 1 for Christmas break. Students will return from Christmas break Jan. 3.

There will be no school Dec. 20 and 21, Jan. 2, Feb. 19 and April 6, 13 and 16, but those could be used for makeup days if needed.

School also won’t be in session March 19 through 23 for spring break and March 30 for Good Friday.

The last day of school for students is set for May 25. Commencement will be May 26 in the high school gymnasium.

Any additional days missed because of the weather will be made up on consecutive weekdays beginning May 29.
