John and Helen Nolting of Brownstown celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in November with their family while vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

An anniversary dinner was Nov. 26 at The Park Grill restaurant in downtown Gatlinburg.

John and the former Helen Layton were married Feb. 4, 1977, in Brownstown by Pastor J.V. Moyer of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

She is the daughter of the late Welby and Mary Layton, and he is the son of the late Harvard and Marguerite Nolting.

The couple have two daughters, Mary (Matt) Hitzeman of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Sarah (Brent) Edwards of Greenfield; and five grandchildren, Marin and Dax Hitzeman of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Jackson, Alex and Quinn Edwards of Greenfield.

Helen is a sales representative for The Jackson County Banner.

John is retired from Jay C Stores and P.L. Marketing and currently is a member of the Jackson County Council.

Both are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour.
