OSPREY, Fla.

Patricia June Montel, 87, of Osprey in Sarasota County, Florida, passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017.

Born June 12, 1929, in Dupont, she was the daughter of Waldo Asa “Ace” Judkins and Lena Mahaffey Judkins, both of whom preceded her in death. On Jan. 1, 1950, at First Baptist Church in Seymour, she married Harry Thomas Montel, who preceded her in death June 13, 2104.

She was a graduate of Seymour High School, attended Franklin College and graduated from the University of Indianapolis and Indiana University. She was an active member in Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Patricia was an elementary school teacher for more than 20 years with the Metropolitian School District of  Perry Township in Indianapolis. After retirement, Harry and Patricia moved to Sarasota, Florida, and have lived there since 1985. Patricia attended Lakeside Lutheran Church in Venice, Florida. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her two sons, Stephen (Lesley) Montel and James (Geri) Montel; five grandchildren, Courtney Montel, M. Megan Montel Rule, Jordan Montel Assmann, Jennifer Cullen and Amanda Kleiber; 12 great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Robert Rowe.

The funeral service will be at noon Saturday at Voss & Sons Funeral Service with Pastor Andrew Currao officiating. Graveside services will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
