SEYMOUR

Ruth Evelyn Smith, 79, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at Schneck Medical Center.

Born March 2, 1937, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Richard O. Mize and Emma Rosella Brown Mize, both of whom preceded her in death. On Aug. 13, 1955, in Brownstown, she married William H. Smith, who preceded her in death in 1998.

Ruth was a homemaker.

Survivors include her four sons, Roger Smith of Seymour, Jackie Smith of Hanover, Steven Smith of Columbus and George Smith of Seymour; her daughter, Linda K. Smith of Seymour; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her brother, George Eugene Mize of North Vernon; and two sisters, Rose Yoder of Florida and Judy Spaulding of Seymour.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Dickie Mize, and a sister, Shirley Tuell.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Zabel Funeral Home in  Brownstown. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday.
